MGP Ingredients puts the proof in the bottle and the texture in most everything else. The company processes wheat flour into food ingredients, such as wheat proteins used by other manufacturers. By-products from this process are mixed with corn and made into a variety of alcohol additives, used in distilled beverages, foods, and pharmaceuticals. MGP also makes plant-based polymers for use in place of petroleum-based plastics, such as disposable cutlery and CD cases, and a wood-composite resin used to make decking material. Evolving, MGP has shifted from a pure-play commodities provider to a maker of value-added food and non-food ingredients. Members of the founding Cray family control 76% of the company.
