The holding company distributes electricity to 139,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in Dane County, and natural gas to about 143,000 customers in seven southern and western Wisconsin counties through its Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) subsidiary. MGE's has a generating capacity of more than 800 MW; the majority comes from fossil-fueled plants. The company's power-related but unregulated businesses include MGE Power (generating interests), MGE Construct (construction services), Central Wisconsin Development (business support services), and MAGAEL (property development).
