Company Description
MetroGAS heats up the Buenos Aires metropolitan area. Argentina's largest natural gas distributor serves more than 7 million customers, 19% of the country's population, and about 24% of its gas market. One of nine companies formed when Gas del Estado was privatized in 1992, MetroGAS was granted a 35-year exclusive distribution license in its service area, which consists of Buenos Aires and 11 southern suburbs. The utility also sells gas to power plant operators and commercial and industrial customers. Consorcio Gas Argentino Sociedad Anónima holds 70% of MetroGAS. That company is 55%-owned by a subsidiary of UK gas giant
