Leonard Cohen sang, "O, the Sisters of Mercy they are not departed or gone ..." In fact, they founded this private Catholic school in 1950 to provide higher education to what has grown to be nearly 9,000 undergrad and graduate students in the New York City area. Mercy College offers degrees in business, accounting, civic and cultural studies, computer science, education, health professions, literature, language, communication, natural sciences, and social sciences. The main campus is in Dobbs Ferry (of Westchester County), New York, with branch campuses in the Bronx, Yorktown Heights, Manhattan, and White Plains, and an extension center in Yonkers. The college began providing classes online in 1990.
