Company Description
There's not much room for mediocrity at Mediobanca. A leading Italian investment bank, the firm offers underwriting, M&A support, wholesale banking, and financial advisory to corporate clients. It also offers private banking, factoring, credit management, and leasing services. CheBanca! (formerly Micos Banca) operates about 40 retail banking branches, mostly in Italy. Mediobanca has expanded domestically and internationally: It opened some 20 new branches in Italy, Germany, Spain, and the UK in 2008. The bitter fights that plagued Mediobanca in the early part of the decade have simmered down, and the bank is less-often called secretive and Machiavellian following the 2003 departure of CEO Vincenzo Maranghi.
