Can heart alone sustain a business? MedCath has learned that despite the best intentions, no, heart alone is not enough. The company, founder of the first stand-alone heart hospital in the US, owned and managed a network of medical facilities specializing in cardiology and cardiovascular services, mostly in the Southwest. MedCath shared ownership of its hospitals (which are licensed as general acute care) with local physicians. MedCath also provided physician practice management services to heart specialists. However, the company is selling off its assets due to financial difficulties.
