Company Description

Mattress Firm Holding is soft on comfort. The bedding retailer owns and operates or franchises some 750 stores, primarily under the Mattress Firm name, in about 25 states. It sells conventional (Sealy, Simmons) and specialty (Tempur-Pedic) mattresses, which together account for about 80% of total sales, in addition to other brands. It also sells bed frames and bedding accessories. From its humble beginning in 1986 when three friends pooled their resources to purchase a downtrodden spot in a Houston strip center, the Mattress Firm chain has grown into a leading US bedding retailer. The company raised about $105 million in an initial public offering in late-2011.
