The Maryland State Lottery Agency runs that state's lottery system, offering a variety of scratch-off ticket games and such numbers games as Keno, Pick 3, and Pick 4. Maryland also participates in the multi-state Mega Millions lottery. The agency, which was created in 1973, distributes about 57% of its revenue as prizes and contributes more than 30% of funds to to state-funded programs for education, human resources, and public health.
