Marlin Firearms makes rifles (bolt-action, lever-action, and self-loading), which are sold by gun dealers, sporting goods retailers, and mass merchandisers throughout the US. It also makes the LC Smith series of shotguns. The company's original model 1897 (now the model 39) is considered "the Cadillac of the .22s." John Marlin founded Marlin Firearms in 1870 as a gun shop that specialized in making pistols, revolvers, and derringers, and built it into one of the largest US manufacturers of .22 caliber rifles.
