Marlin is hooked on equipment leasing. Marlin Business Services leases more than 100 categories of commercial equipment to some 60,000 small and midsized businesses -- and it provides the financing for the deals, in part through its Marlin Business Bank subsidiary. The market is known in the equipment leasing field as the "small-ticket" segment. Office equipment -- including copiers, answering systems, and computers -- makes up about 45% of Marlin's leases, but its customers also can get products as diverse as computer software, security systems, diagnostic health care equipment, water filtration systems, and restaurant equipment. The company primarily operates through its main subsidiary, Marlin Leasing.
