Company Description
Mandriva -- which changed its name from Mandrakesoft following the acquisition of Conectiva -- offers the Mandriva Linux operating system and related software utilities, a customized version of the open-source Linux OS for PCs and computer servers. Mandriva offers commercial and consumer products, its software may be purchased and downloaded from its Web site. Founded in 1998, the company was one of the first Linux distributors. Its fortunes were set back, however, when financial worries in early 2003 forced it to seek court-supervised "redressement judiciaire" status, the French equivalent of Chapter 11 reorganization. The company emerged from the formal reorganization process in 2004.
