Company Description
Mackays Stores (dba M&Co.) sells more than just your average mac (though it sells them, too). One of the UK's largest privately-owned retailers, the company sells women's, men's, and kids' apparel and accessories, jewelry, lingerie, and housewares from some 300 stores in smaller towns in England, Scotland, and Wales under the M&Co. banner and online. In a bid to update its image and move upmarket, the value-priced fashion chain has converted all of its stores to the more contemporary M&Co. name, which was launched following the company's acquisition of the Laroque chain. The company's majority shareholder is its Chairman and CEO, Iain McGeoch. Mackays opened its first store at Clydebank in 1953.
