Company Description

A 2003 spinoff of automotive component manufacturer Magna International, MI Developments owns and manages all of that company's former real estate holdings, a portfolio of more than 100 industrial and commercial properties totaling some 27.5 million sq. ft. in North America and Europe. Magna International and its affiliates are tenants of much of the properties. It also acquires land for mixed-use and residential developments. In 2010 MI Developments acquired the horse racetrack assets of former affiliate Magna Entertainment, which went into bankruptcy. The following year, former chairman Frank Stronach sold his controlling stake in MI Developments in exchange for some of the racetrack assets.
