Operating through its Richmond American Homes subsidiary and several other units, the company is one of the largest homebuilders in Colorado; it is also active in about a dozen other states in the West and mid-Atlantic. MDC annually builds about 3,000 single-family detached homes that range in price from $170,000 to $450,000. The company also constructs a limited number of luxury homes. Subsidiary HomeAmerican Mortgage provides loans to buyers of MDC's homes; the company also has subsidiaries that offer homeowners and title insurance.
