Lunardi's operates super markets, not supermarkets. The company owns about a half a dozen stores in the San Francisco Bay Area. Catering to upscale customers, its shops have some of the largest cheese and wine selections in the area, stocking everyday favorites as well as rare, hard-to-find cheeses and wine vintages. Even the seafood is distinguished -- Lunardi's buys its fish from old-fashioned hook-and-line fishermen, who deliver higher quality seafood than those using the cheaper drag fishing methods.
