It doesn't discriminate when it comes to investments, but they generally fall into five categories: asset acquisition, corporate acquisition, company sponsorship, refinancing/recapitalization, and development. After the subprime mortgage lending crisis, Lone Star Funds has been a Texas tornado of real estate acquisitions. It bought Accredited Home Lenders for more than $400 million in 2007. Lone Star Funds announced plans to launch two more funds in 2008 worth a combined $6.5 billion.
