Company Description
One of Europe's oldest and largest stock exchanges, the London Stock Exchange (LSE) lists some 3,000 stocks, depository receipts, and Eurobonds. The LSE includes the main market, the Professional Securities Market (or PSM, which lists debt securities), and the Alternative Investment Market (or AIM, which lists new and growing companies). The company also operates the Milan-based exchange Borsa Italiana, the Italian Derivatives Exchange Market (IDEM), and fixed-income market MTS. The LSE also performs post-trade clearing and custody services, sells real-time market information and reference data, and offers trading technology to capital markets clients through Sri Lanka-based MillenniumIT (acquired in 2009).
