Talk about a musical family! Fine instrument-maker Leblanc, founded by the late Vito Pascucci and run by his son Leon, can trace its musical family roots back to 18th-century France. With plants in Wisconsin and one in France, Leblanc (formerly known as G. Leblanc Corporation) makes brass and woodwind instruments under renowned names such as Holton, Martin, Leblanc, Noblet, and Vito. One of the largest instrument makers in the US, the company (founded in 1946) also makes and markets clarinet and saxophone mouthpieces under the Woodwind Company brand. The company was purchased by rival musical equipment maker Steinway for about $36 million in 2004. It operates under the Conn-Selmer business.
