Company Description

Lafarge Cement UK, a subsidiary of Paris-based Lafarge, pours it on the competition. With about 6 cement plants located throughout the UK, the company supplies about 40% of the country's market. Major products include Portland cements and Portland composite cements, high performance cements (heat resistant, sulfate resistant, rapid setting), and special cements (shrinkage compensated concrete, granulated blast furnace slag, pulverized fuel ash, and Portland-slag cement). It also produces plasterboard. Lafarge made it big in the UK when it acquired Blue Circle Industries in 2001; Lafarge Cement UK still uses the Blue Circle name to sell its cement.
