LL&E Royalty Trust owns royalty interests in oil and gas properties located in Alabama, Florida, Texas, and offshore Louisiana. Formed in 1983, the trust receives and distributes royalties to shareholders based on the amount of oil and gas sold either to affiliates or on the spot market. Royalty trusts distribute essentially all royalties received to their shareholders, but their profitability is dependent upon the price of oil and gas and the productivity of the properties.
