In fact, the company is wholly owned by 22 of the UK's leading financial institutions. Through a network of 46,000 cash machines, the company processes over 2 billion transactions per year and manages the overall activities of the network's switching hub and connections. Some 95 million LINK cards are in issue, and division Avantra provides outsourced automatic teller machine (ATM) management and card services to banks and independent ATM deployers. It manages about a quarter of the ATMs connected to the LINK network.
