Company Description

Koret caters to and clothes ladies of a certain age in chic coordinates. The company, a Kellwood subsidiary, manufactures casual women's apparel and sportswear under the City Blues, Francisca,  Koret, and The Slimming Solution brand names for distribution to department stores (Belk, Stage Stores) and for sale in about 30 of its own outlet stores in more than 25 states. The company was founded by Joseph and Stephanie Koret in 1938 and then acquired by Kellwood in 1999. Today it operates within Kellwood's women's sportswear segment, generating a large portion of revenue for its parent. Kellwood, which along with other apparel makers has been struggling, is owned by the private equity firm Sun Capital Partners.
