Company Description

Kingway Brewery Holdings is a leading beer maker in China with more than a half dozen breweries. It distributes and markets beer in more than 20 provinces under such labels as Kingway, Kingway Draft, and Super Fresh Kingway. In mid-2011 a joint venture between international brewing giant Heineken and Singapore's Asia Pacific Breweries sold its roughly 20% stake in Kingway Brewery to government-owned Guangdong Holdings Group (GHG) for ¥1 billion (about $205 million). The deal boosted GHG's ownership stake to 73%. The move thwarted plans by Hong Kong-based China Resources Enterprise, which makes rival SNOW brand beer, to buy into the company.
