Killam purchases, refurbishes, and manages apartment buildings and manufactured home communities (trailer parks) in the eastern provinces of Canada. The acquisitive company, founded in 2000, has greatly expanded its portfolio to include some 180 properties and more than 18,000 units. Killam's strategy has been to buy communities that have fallen into disrepair, but the company is grabbing up new high quality properties as well. Key markets include Fredericton, Moncton, and Saint John (New Brunswick); Halifax (Nova Scotia); St. John's (Newfoundland); and Charlottetown (Prince Edward Island). However, the company plans to diversify geographically by making new acquisitions in central and western Canada.
