Punk/alternative record label Kill Rock Stars was founded in 1991 by Matthew "Slim" Moon. The label, which signs mostly bands from the Northwest, initially acted as the unofficial home to the "riot grrrl" scene, a loose collection of feminist-minded punk rock acts in the 1990s, including Bratmobile, Bikini Kill, and England's Huggy Bear. Current artists on the label's roster include Deerhoof, the Decemberists, and The Old Haunts.
