Kaiser Permanente also operates three dozen hospitals with more than 8,500 beds and almost 600 medical offices that make up Kaiser Foundation Hospitals. Additionally, the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan covers 8.8 million people with a range of health plans, most of which are in California. Founded in 1945, the company operates nationwide, though its business operations are largely concentrated along the West Coast.
