JPS Industries' glass and plastic products can be found surfing the waves and saving lives. Its JPS Composite Materials arm makes high-strength synthetic fabrics and fiberglass mesh for the aeronautics, military, electronics, construction, and other industries. The products are used in myriad applications, including body armor, insulation, plasma display screens, and even surfboards. JPS Industries also operates through JPS Elastomerics (doing business as Stevens Urethane), a maker of polyurethane film, sheet, tubing, and cords, used to make an array of goods, such as athletic shoes, medical devices, and auto parts. JPS Elastometrics' traces back to the 1863 founding of predecessor Easthampton Rubber Thread.
