The municipal utility distributes electricity, natural gas, and water and provides wastewater services to more 48,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in Jackson and surrounding areas. Jackson Energy also sells propane and offers telecommunications services. The company was formed by the City of Jackson in 1959 to combine its three separate utilities (natural gas, electricity, and water/wastewater) under one utility operation.
