JVC KENWOOD Holdings is a vehicle designed to turn up the volume on the auto sound business. Created in 2008 by the merger of struggling electronics maker Victory Company of Japan (better known as JVC) and Kenwood Corporation, the joint holding company is a bid by the two former rivals to create a strong competitor in home and portable audio and car electronics. The holding company's three operating companies are JVC, Kenwood, and J&K Technologies, the research and development arm of the venture. JVC KENWOOD Holdings was formed in October 2008, after JVC's former parent Matsushita Electric (now Panasonic Corp.) moved to unload the troubled unit, which hadn't been winning in the market in recent years. To read the full description, subscribe now.
