JFK Health System (formerly Solaris Health), which serves a tri-county area in central New Jersey, changed names in 2011 to fall in nominal line with its flagship facility, JFK Medical Center, which in turn honors the nation's 35th president. The hospital has about 400 acute care beds and is one of the Garden State's major health care facilities. Located adjacent to it are JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute with about 100 beds, JFK New Jersey Neuroscience Institute, JFK Mediplex outpatient surgery center, JFK Imaging Center, JFK Haven Hospice, and Whispering Knoll assisted living facility. A separate site, Muhlenberg Campus, consists of a satellite emergency room and outpatient care facilities.
