The company installs and maintains electrical and communications systems for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Work on commercial buildings and homes includes custom design, testing, and maintenance on low-voltage systems such as lighting, fire alarm, audio/video, and Internet cabling. On the industrial side, IES performs high- and medium-voltage systems installation and construction on power stations, oil and gas pipelines, and processing plants. The company has a network of some 70 locations serving the continental US. Banking investor Jeffrey Gendell, through Tontine Capital Partners, owns about 60% of IES.
