Innkeepers USA Trust is a self-administered real estate investment trust (REIT) that makes equity investments in hospitality real estate -- primarily upscale and extended-stay hotel properties. (The company also invests in full-service hotels and mid-priced lodgings.) The REIT owns about 75 hotels with some 10,000 rooms in more than 20 states. Nearly all are leased by management company Island Hospitality. About 55% of its properties are operated under the Residence Inn by Marriott brand.
