Company Description
The transmission lines in the Northeast power grid keep humming because of ISO New England. The not-for-profit corporation is responsible for electricity generation and transmission throughout Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. As an independent systems operator (ISO), the company runs more than 30,000 MW generating capacity grid that is owned by utilities of the New England Power Pool and manages the wholesale electric market. The power grid is made up of hundreds of generating units (about 350 under direct ISO New England control) connected by more than 8,000 miles of high-voltage transmission lines. It provides power to more than 6.5 million customers in New England.
