Company Description
Forget the space race, the Astros have a pennant race to win. The Houston Astros Baseball Club joined Major League Baseball in 1962 as the Colt .45s of the National League (the team was renamed in 1965) but have yet to win a World Series championship. The team has been a perennial playoff contender, however, and earned its first pennant in 2005. (Houston lost the World Series that year to the Chicago White Sox.) The Astros play host at Minute Maid Park on the edge of downtown Houston. Businessman Drayton McLane, who paid about $117 million for the Astros back in 1992, sold the franchise for $615 million in 2011 to a group led by Houston businessman Jim Crane. The team will move to the American League in 2013.
