Company Description
What happens between the sheets is big business at Hokuetsu Kishu Paper. Established in 1907 to make paperboard from rice, the company has evolved its processes and products. Hokuetsu Kishu harnesses one of the largest paper machines in the world (N9) to produce mainly coated and non-coated paper, specialty papers, and white boxboard. Hokuetsu Kishu's six mills cross Japan's east to west girth. The company also cultivates timberland in South Africa for its raw material. Customers in Japan account for most sales. Formerly Hokuetsu Paper Mills, the company merged with rival Kishu Paper, forged their names, and took on the role of parent company in 2009. Mitsubishi Corp. holds a 24% stake in Hokuetsu Kishu.
