The company makes inspection systems and other semiconductor production equipment, as well as analytical and clinical instruments, such as electron microscopes. As part of the reorganization of the larger Hitachi empire, Hitachi High-Technologies in 2004 absorbed Hitachi Electronics Engineering, which makes inspection systems used in semiconductor and LCD production.
