Birla Group -- it was established in 1942, five years before India's independence. In addition to cars (Ambassador, Lancer), HML makes trucks and multi-utility vehicles (Trekker, Porter, and Pushpak) and the RTV (a versatile minibus-ambulance-pickup model). HML also partners with Mitsubishi Motors to manufacture the Lancer sedan and the Pajero SUV. It sold its line of earthmoving equipment to Caterpillar .
