Hillenbrand knows a thing or two about life and death. As the holding company for Batesville Casket Company, Hillenbrand is a top supplier to the death care industry, providing nearly half the caskets used in the US. Batesville makes a variety of caskets in materials ranging from wood to stainless steel. It also produces urns and other cremation products. Beyond its death care business, Hillenbrand supplies industrial manufacturing equipment through K-Tron International, which it acquired in early 2010. Hillenbrand added K-Tron to its portfolio following its spinoff from previous parent Hill-Rom Holdings (formerly Hillenbrand Industries, a hospital bed maker) in March 2008.
