In 1915 automaker Henry Ford founded the hospital that forms the cornerstone of southeastern Michigan's not-for-profit Henry Ford Health System (HFHS), a hospital network that is also involved in medical research and education. The system's half-dozen hospitals -- including the flagship Henry Ford Hospital, as well as Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital and mental health facility Kingswood Hospital -- are home to roughly 2,200 beds.
