Some say that health is wealth, and Health New England tries to make sure you keep both. The managed care health plan provides medical coverage to about 100,000 members in Western and Central Massachusetts. It sells its plans, including HMO and PPO offerings, to some 5,000 employers and directly to individuals and families. Among its offerings are low-cost plans in line with Massachusetts' health care reform law, passed in 2006, as well as private Medicare Advantage plans for seniors. For employers, it provides coverage on either a fully insured or administrative services only (ASO) basis. Health New England is a majority-owned subsidiary of Baystate Health System.
