Company Description
Head makes the gear that gets skiers, tennis players, and divers out in front. The company manufactures and markets branded sports equipment -- including Penn-branded tennis balls and racquets -- in more than 85 countries. In a bid to boost its presence in a low-growth sector, the company has expanded by buying new brands and entering the snowboard market. The company also has extended its reach through a variety of sportswear licensing agreements. Tennis great Andre Agassi uses Head racquets. Head was founded in 1950 by Howard Head, inventor of the first metal ski. The company is 55%-owned (and effectively controlled) by chairman and CEO Johan Eliasch and his family.
