Hawaiian Telcom serves Hawaii's main island with about 500,000 local access lines in service. The company also provides long-distance lines and broadband Internet access over digital subscriber line (DSL) connections. It resells wireless communications services through an agreement with Sprint Nextel . Hawaiian Telcom, the state's incumbent local exchange carrier, has been in operation since 1883.
