Hawai'i Pacific University infuses a little aloha spirit into the liberal arts. The state's largest private institution of higher education offers some 50 undergraduate degrees and about a dozen graduate programs to more than 8,200 students, with majors ranging from journalism to business administration. The university's main campus is located in downtown Honolulu, while two others also on the island of Oahu focus on environmental science, marine biology, oceanography, and nursing. Students come from more than 100 countries, making it one of the most diverse campuses in the world. Founded in 1965, the not-for-profit university's student/faculty ratio is 18:1.
