Abrams has book distribution agreements cultural institutions and museums such as the Whitney Museum of American Art. It has additionally launched imprints devoted to pop culture, crafts, and education.  Harry N. Abrams founded the company in 1949; today it is a subsidiary of Paris-based publisher La Martinière Groupe.
