Owned and operated by Chicago's wealthy Pritzker family, H Group Holding is the investment holding company for a slowly dwindling number of assets. The Pritzkers once owned a vast empire (worth some $20 billion). However, since the death of Jay Pritzker in 1999, family squabbles over its vast fortune have led the Pritzkers to slowly break up the empire and sell billions of dollars worth of assets. Cofounder and brother Robert Pritzker died in 2011. The family still owns around 80% of luxury hotel operator
