HCCA (Health Care Corporation of America) International has an answer to the nursing shortage: Go global. HCCA recruits nurses internationally (many from the Philippines but also India, Europe, and the Middle East) for employment at US hospitals. It handles immigration and provides training for working in the US. Nurses are employed by HCCA for the first 30 months in the States, after which hospitals can hire them directly. HCCA provides management services to hospitals worldwide; clients include more than 40 facilities on five continents. It has placed more than 30,000 health care employees worldwide since its inception in 1973.
