Gulf Air helps globe trotters find their way to the Persian Gulf, or, more precisely, to Bahrain and regions beyond. From its hub at Bahrain International Airport in Manama, the carrier serves more than 40 cities in more than 30 countries worldwide with a fleet of about 20 jet aircraft, mostly Airbus A320s, and a few A319s, A321s, and Embraers. It serves additional destinations via code-sharing, a common industry practice in which carriers sell tickets on one another's flights and thus extend their networks. An affiliate provides air cargo transportation services. Launched in 1950 as Gulf Aviation, Gulf Air is owned by the Kingdom of Bahrain through Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding.
