Guilford Mills used to make fabrics to cover your ride and your hide. Now it mainly focuses on your ride. The textile company produces fabrics for automobile interiors, such as bodycloth and overhead sun shades, as well as specialty products, including blankets, pool table fabric, and shoe linings. It cut its apparel fabrics production due to intense foreign competition, filing for bankruptcy protection in 2002 but eventually turning itself around. Guilford Mills was acquired by private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management in 2004. Founded in 1946, Guilford has sales and manufacturing locations in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and South Africa.
