Company Description
Sleep easy tonight knowing that Grupo Famsa is not a knockoff of Latin boy band Menudo. The retail chain has about 420 stores located in more than 75 cites throughout Mexico. Famsa has also made inroads in the US (25% of sales), with about three dozen locations in predominantly Hispanic markets in Arizona, California, Illinois, Nevada, and Texas. Its credit and financing options entice hordes of customers that otherwise might not be able to buy the company's home electronics, appliances, furniture, clothing, or cell phones. Famsa also provides travel agency and auto financing services and launched Banco Ahorro Famsa, a commercial bank, in 2007. The company was founded in Monterrey, Mexico, in 1970.
