Company Description

Eurotunnel owns and operates the 31-mile Channel Tunnel (Chunnel), and its rail shuttle system, which moves trucks, passenger cars, and buses beneath the English Channel between Folkestone (UK) and Calais/Coquelles (France). The Group operates two core businesses. Railway Operations offers passenger, freight and vehicle shuttles via its customer Eurostar. Infrastructure Management maintains and modernizes the Tunnel structure. Eurotunnel has diversified this business by acquiring the French subsidiaries of rail freight operator and logistics services provider Veolia Cargo (now Europorte) for €17 million (more than $22 million) in late 2009, giving Eurotunnel a growth opportunity in rail freight.
